You don't need to fly to a hill station for a beautiful pre-wedding shoot. Tirupati and Chittoor district have waterfalls, forts, hills, and lakes within an hour's drive — here are our favorites.
Couples planning a pre-wedding shoot around Tirupati or Chittoor often assume they need to travel out of state for a scenic backdrop. In reality, the Rayalaseema region has forests, waterfalls, hilltop viewpoints, and centuries-old forts within an hour or two of the city — all of it far easier on the budget and the schedule than a destination shoot. Here are ten locations our team returns to again and again.
1. Talakona Waterfalls
Andhra Pradesh's tallest waterfall, tucked inside the Sri Venkateswara National Park, gives you dense forest cover, cascading water, and natural rock formations in one location. It's roughly 55km from Tirupati and works best in the morning light, before the midday sun flattens the greenery.
2. Horsley Hills
A hill station in Madanapalle mandal known for cooler weather, pine-lined roads, and misty viewpoints — Horsley Hills gives couples a change of texture entirely, especially in the early morning when the fog hasn't lifted yet.
3. Chandragiri Fort
This 11th-century fort near Tirupati offers dramatic stone architecture, wide courtyards, and a hill backdrop — a strong option for couples who want a more regal, historic feel to their portraits rather than a purely natural one.
4. Kailasakona Waterfalls
A quieter, less-visited waterfall near Tirupati with a small Shiva temple nearby — good for couples who want a more intimate, less crowded shoot than Talakona.
5. Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park Surrounds
The wooded approach roads and open lawns near the park offer soft, filtered light and greenery without the drive required for the deeper forest locations.
6. Avilala Boating Point
A reservoir close to Tirupati city that offers water, hills, and open sky in a single frame — particularly striking at golden hour, just before sunset.
- •7. Tirupati's colonial-era buildings and quiet colony streets — a good backdrop for a more urban, editorial-style shoot.
- •8. Chittoor's Sri Kalahasti riverside stretches — combining temple-town architecture with open water views.
- •9. Punganur countryside and open farmland — wide horizons and warm light, ideal for wide, cinematic frames.
- •10. Your own family home or ancestral property — often the most emotionally resonant location of all, especially for couples who value tradition over scenery.
Planning Tips
Outdoor locations around Tirupati and Chittoor are best shot early morning or in the two hours before sunset, when light is soft and temperatures are manageable. Waterfall and forest locations also need a quick permissions check depending on the season, which our team handles as part of planning your shoot day.
